NEW YORK, October 19, 2021 / PRNewswire / – GoGo squeeZ®, the official fruit snack for the U.S. men’s and women’s national soccer teams, tackles the impact of the pandemic on youth sport head-on by introducing the Pleasure above all to empower parents, teachers and coaches to raise children’s voices and their participation in sports and play. Developed in partnership with Laureus Sport for Good United States, the playbook is a free, shareable resource filled with advice, case studies, data and expert advice on how to improve youth sports programming with a focus on the primary driver of motivation of children: pleasure.
The Pleasure above all, downloadable from GoGosqueeZ.com/FunComesFirst, is founded on creating a more equitable, accessible and fun environment for all children, regardless of location or origin.
Throughout the pandemic, GoGo squeeZ® focused on the physical and emotional impact of staying at home on the children. Research shows that 78%1 of schools said students were doing much less physical activity as many youth sports leagues were suspended. The main reason given to explain the abandonment of sport by children was that they no longer had fun.2
“Now, more than ever, it is essential to ensure that fun is at the top of the sports agenda for young people,” said Ivan Giraud, President and CEO of Materne North America. “Through the Pleasure above all, GoGo squeeZ® is committed to helping create and nurture fun, safe and accessible spaces to encourage active play and teamwork, which we know have immeasurable benefits for youth development. “
To help publicize the Pleasure above all, GoGo squeeZ® brings together the voices of four mothers of professional athletes: Alex morgan, Ali krieger, Ashlyn Harris, and Sydney leroux. These brand ambassadors play a role new video, developed by GoGo squeeZ®, dedicated to ensuring youth programming is focused on youth voices as children return to sport and socializing safely with their friends.
United States Women’s National Team Soccer Star Alex morgan, a two-year GoGo squeeZ® brand ambassador, knows first-hand the importance of keeping fun at the center of attention and the positive ripple effect it can have on children. As a new mother, Alex recently reviewed her own trajectory with youth football and the loving support she received from her father, Michael morgan, in a docu style video created by GoGo squeeZ®.
“The pandemic has had a huge impact on sports attendance among young people, and GoGo squeeZ® recognizes the importance of keeping children in the game, ”said Alex morgan. “As the first coach, my dad made sure I always had fun. As unofficial coaches of our daughter Charlie, my husband and I prioritize making active play a part of her daily schedule given its many physical and emotional benefits. She’s learning and having fun all of us at the same time. “
The Pleasure above all the results will be presented to the Aspen Institute Project Play Summit during its virtual gathering on October 19e and 20e – a national summit for young sports leaders. The subject will be discussed during a round table moderated by the four mothers of professional athletes and GoGo squeeZ® ambassadors.
