NDC youths descend on former Ada East MCE for stoking tension over Songor redevelopment

National Democratic Congress (NDC) youths concerned about Ada have strongly criticized the former Chief Municipal Executive (MCE) of Ada East for allegedly inflating tension in the region over the Songor Lagoon redevelopment .
The Group which referred to some publications suggesting that former MCE, Rex Daniel Wusah, instead of encouraging peace in the region, was instead seen meeting with certain groups of people, telling them to continue their attacks on Electrochem Ghana Limited.
It should be recalled that the Tema Regional Police Command called all interested parties to a meeting to smoke peace pupa and find a way forward to ensure peace in the various communities.
However, the media suggested that after all efforts by the police commander, former MCE Dani Wusah told people to ignore the police and continue their clashes and attacks.
This development, according to the group, was unfortunate and painted the picture of the NDC in particular, in Sege constituency, as the source of most of the unfortunate unrest around Songor Lagoon.
Below is the NDC Youth statement

Hi there.
We, the group mentioned above, have invited you this morning for a very important briefing on events in the media space since Friday, September 16, 2022.
On Thursday, September 15, 2022, the Tema Regional Police Command reportedly held a stakeholder meeting at Community Police Station 2 on the events in the traditional Ada area which includes Sege and Ada constituencies. Since the creation of Electrochem GH Ltd, several meetings have been held on incidents of clashes, and the latest concerns the case of Kablevu in the district of Ada west (constituency of Sege).
The purpose of the meeting was to prevent peace in the traditional area of Ada, particularly around the communities where Electrochem GH Ltd works and Ada in general. Some interested parties including Ada Traditional Council, Electrochem GH Ltd, Ada Youth Forum for Development, Ada Songor Lagoon Association, Kablevu Community including other interested bodies, were present at the meeting.
We want to take this opportunity to commend the regional police commander and his team for their efforts to ensure peace in Ada. However, we woke up the following day, Friday 16th September, to some rather disturbing news which as a group of young people believe would affect the already dwindling fortunes of the NDC in the traditional Ada area, particularly the constituency of Sege. News headlines include:
1) “NDC DCE incites Ada residents against Electrochem” (www.ghananews247.com)
2) “NDC DCE incites Ada residents against Electrochem; ignoring the peace efforts of the police”. (myafriactoday.net)
3) Some titles were also on my dailynewsonline.com
What breaks our hearts the most is the publication of the headline of the New Crusading Guide newspaper from September 16, 2022 with the headline: “KEEP CALM!! »
In the three publications, a name and an image crossed. The DCE at the center of these posts is Rex Daniel Wussah, a former DCE in the Ada East District Assembly.
This particular issue is of serious concern to some of us as members of the great NDC party, whose motto is “Unity, Stability and Development”. We cannot accept the fact that a former DCE that we believed during his tenure could have sought the development of Ada including Songor Lagoon. Knowing his personality, we young people don’t think, the posts reflect what he meant even if he said something at all.
So we call the Hon. Rex Daniel Wussah to come out to prove the veracity or not of these publications. Failure on his part to respond to these publications would mean that everything we have read in the last week is nothing but the truth, and the effect of his actions on the fortunes of the Party would not be for the benefit of all Akatamansonians. .
Once again, we call on the base of the NDC from the constituency to the region and the national secretariat to make statements on the unfortunate events around the Songor lagoon.
Today the picture that is being painted about the NDC, especially in Sege Constituency, is that the great Sege Constituency NDC is allegedly the source of most of the unfortunate unrest around the lagoon of Songor. We think a statement from the NDC will clear the air in the way it is painted in a bad light; but knowing the party’s efforts to win the next election, if issues of this nature continue unchecked, we would emphatically say that the party’s gains, especially in the Sege constituency, would be greatly affected.
Ladies and gentlemen of the press, we condemn the unrest at Kablevu in Ada West district and further call on the IGP to investigate and prosecute if necessary and also call on the two sitting NDC MPs of Ada West and East to speak to the endless Confusion of the Songor lagoon because, they represent the people of Ada.
In conclusion, we call on the IGP to keep a special eye on the traditional area of Ada, in particular the constituency of Sege, to avoid any further escalation of any kind.
