The governments of Nigeria and Portugal have signed memorandums of understanding on sport and youth development. Minister of Youth Development and Sports, Sunday Dare, signed both (MoU) on behalf of Nigeria.
The first MoU will see Nigeria and Portugal engage in successful exchange programs and facilitate the transfer of expertise for sports development, among other areas.
The Minister also signed another Memorandum of Understanding on capacity building and youth development with the Portuguese Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Madam Ana Catarina.
These MoUs were signed in the presence of President Muhammadu Buhari, as well as the Prime Minister of Portugal, Antònio Costa.
In line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision, Sunday Dare said Nigeria would continuously provide a perspective for Nigerian youth to reach the world with their potential, intelligence and talents.
Dare accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari earlier in the week to Portugal to facilitate bilateral relations between the two nations, and the agreements signed reaffirmed Buhari’s commitment to sport and youth development in the country.
Dare also had fruitful discussions with Portuguese football giants, Benfica’s head of global expansion, Lorenco Menezes, and also met with the club’s two vice-presidents, Manuel Debrito and Jose Gandarez.
